Offered on a voluntary basis, the advanced system of National Board Certification compliments, but does not replace state licensing.  Rochester City School District teachers who hold National Board Certification will receive an additional $1,500 in salary annually.   Teachers receive 10 hours of professional development hours and 3 graduate credit hours for going through the process and an additional 3 graduate credit hours upon board certification.
 
Candidates in the past have had great success when working on this individual project in a support group setting.
