Curriculum Research Project

Description
The Department of African and African American Studies and the Rochester Teacher Center are co-sponsoring a curriculum research opportunity for interested teachers and administrators.  Participants in this research project will study and discuss a culturally-responsive unit and text entitled, Africa, Birthplace of Humanity: African Peoples and Nations (Goodwin and Swartz, 2008). Meeting sessions will focus on ways to use this text and lessons, how to integrate Cultural Learning Standards (RTC, 2008) with New York State and RCSD Standards, and approaches to examining student work. Participants will:

Educators interested in this project should apply as individuals or in groups of two or more by providing the information requested below under separate cover. Those who complete this project with a final product will receive 15 RCSD professional development hours or a stipend. Please submit your application by October 1, 2008 and final products are due December 19th, 2008.
